Ascenseur, 2011, commissioned for The James Gallery at The Graduate Center CUNY

The project served as a moment for reflection. The textiles were derived from the building elevators that were a part of the original design in 1905. The scrims hung adjacent to the gallery windows served to question ornamental function while both visually shielding and interacting with the view of car and pedestrian traffic along Fifth Avenue.
